Boeing Forecasts Demand for 2.1M New Commercial Aviation Personnel

  • 0

Boeing's 2022 Pilot and Technician Outlook (PTO) forecasts demand for 2.1 million new aviation personnel over the next 20 years to safely support the recovery in commercial air travel and meet rising long-term growth.

The long-term forecast shows that 602,000 pilots, 610,000 maintenance technicians and 899,000 cabin crew members will be needed to support the global commercial fleet over the next two decades. The worldwide fleet is expected to nearly double and grow to 47,080 airplanes by 2041, according to Boeing's recently released Commercial Market Outlook.

This year's PTO represents a 3.4 percent increase from 2021, excluding the Russia region, which is not forecast in this year's PTO due to sanctions that prohibit exports of aircraft manufactured in western countries and market uncertainty. China, Europe and North America represent over half of the total new personnel demand. The fastest growing regions are Africa, Southeast Asia and South Asia, with all three regions expected to grow more than 4 percent over the forecast period.

"As the commercial aviation industry recovers from the pandemic and plans for long-term growth, we anticipate a steady and increasing demand for aviation personnel, as well as the ongoing need for highly effective training," said Chris Broom, vice president, Commercial Training Solutions, Boeing Global Services. "Our customer-centric approach and digital expertise includes a commitment to delivering data driven, competency-based training and assessment solutions as well as technologies that meet the evolving needs of our customers."

New digital solutions to enhance the efficacy and efficiency of training would include immersive learning experiences and virtual learning platforms.

Projected demand for new pilots, technicians and cabin crew by global region for the next 20 years is approximately:

For the first time aviation students in the Gulf will be able to complete their EASA ATPL pilot training and examination without leaving the region.

This is because Jetstream Aviation Training & Services based in Silicon Oasis Dubai is now a fully EASA-authorised examination center.

Captain John Diskos CEO and founder of Jetstream said: “This is an incredible breakthrough. Students attending aeroplane or helicopter ATPL pilot training in our training center in Dubai can now participate in the exams without the need to travel to Athens, or anywhere else in Europe, thereby avoiding the inconvenience, expense and stress of an intercontinental journey to sit the exams.

“This is especially important in the present climate, with the pandemic continuing to make flights and visas unpredictable.”Students converting their ICAO licence to EASA will also benefit, as ATPL and CPL exams can be taken at the center. In addition, the EASA Part-FCL examination can be conducted for fixed-wing and helicopter pilots at the fully equipped center, located equidistant between Dubai’s two international airports.

Jetstream is an established and accredited approved training organisation (ATO) a certified and type rating training organisation (FTO/TRTO) and an approved Part-147 maintenance training organisation, under EASA regulations, with crew training centres in Athens and `Dubai.

The training centre in Dubai has been approved since 2019 as an examination center for EASA Part-147 engineers examination to acquire the Part-66 licence.

John Ntiskos, CEO Jetstream said: “Dynamic has superb facilities and we have the EASA approved instructors, so it is an excellent partnership. With a choice of full motion aircraft simulators, including A330, Boeing 777, Boeing 737, and a private jet, we are able to train crew for both airline and VIP work. JETSTREAM Aviation Academy ATO

Athens, Greece – Dubai, UAE

24/01/2017

Jetstream Aviation Academy ATO expands its global presence by providing pilot training on the ATR 42/72 600 using flight simulators in Bangkok. From the beginning of this year the type rating training, provided under the DGCA regulations, has been conducted using Jetstream approvals and with selected instructors who are, both highly experienced and airline captains current on type. The 15 days theoretical training takes place in one of our partner centers, either in India or in Bangkok, followed by 15 days simulator training in Bangkok.

CEO Captain John Diskos commented: “As the modern ATR 600 aircraft are delivered to India’s airline operators, the demand for pilot training is high. The decision to use flight simulators in Bangkok for the ATR 600 was due to the high quality of the simulators and the convenience of the short distance from India. We train our pilots to the highest level, taking great pride in associating with the best quality simulator centers around. We are able to comprehensively provide the training needs of all ATR operators in India and overseas. Jetstream ATO will be providing client-customised training as well as the training and checks required by regulation. This arrangement provides the opportunity for operators to outsource to Jetstream the often costly check and training functions. Being able to conduct the type training and checks for our pilots next to Bangkok airport allows us to significantly reduce the expenditure and time that would otherwise be incurred for crews engaged in training”.

Jetstream Aviation Academy is a combined EASA ATO for high quality complex training services from ab initio pilot to all types of Airbus, Boeing, ATR, DHC8, etc., including pilot and cabin crew provision and one of the leading civil and military training organizations in Europe and Middle East. With 2 training centers, in Athens International Airport in Greece and in Dubai, UAE, is the trusted organisation for a clientele of major air operators and regulatory authorities, such as: Alitalia, Monarch, Qatar, Etihad, Philippine Airlines, SpiceJet, JetAirways, Aegean, Hellenic Airforce, Airbus Military, Hellenic CAA, Italian Ministry of Defence, etc.

Jetstream since 2008 has vast experience in training Indian pilots under DGCA requirements. In 2016 alone the academy, trained in excess of 450 Indian pilots on A320, B737 and ATR airplane types.
